About
From Civil Engineering to Front-End Development
I'm Swapnil Katiyar, a Front-End Developer based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. I build production UIs with React and TypeScript, focusing on performance, user experience, and maintainable component architecture. Currently, Iβm a Software Developer at Tekonika Technologies (May 2025 β Present).
My journey started in civil engineering, where I worked as a Structural Design Engineer and mentored 200+ students. That analytical mindset helped me break complex problems into clear systems, and it shapes how I approach frontend development today.
Recently, I built a live ONDC e-commerce marketplace for Bajaj Finserv Markets (EasyPay) using React/Next.js with Strapi CMS. I shipped vertical pages from Figma to production, built dynamic search with debouncing, filters, and pagination, and integrated location-based listing APIs. I also improved perceived performance with skeleton/shimmer loading and ensured the mobile UX felt smooth with responsive filter overlays and carousels.
At Piramal Sales Central, an internal tool used by loan sales officers, I owned the architecture shift to Config Driven Deployment (CDD). The goal was to eliminate conditional hell by unifying mortgage and non-mortgage product journeys into one scalable, data-driven system. I proposed the approach, built a POC, presented it to the Technical Director, and after sign-off migrated 8+ loan product flows. Along the way, I added unit tests + documentation, handled security and Next.js upgrades, and supported regression handoff to QA in March 2026.
Career Switch
Switching from civil engineering to frontend development wasnβt a leap into the unknownβit was applying the same discipline to a new system. Structural analysis taught me to design for correctness and long-term maintainability, and that directly translates into clean React code and scalable UI patterns.
